Ariel: I’ll patch this into the uploaded C2-56A shop work-in-progress as a valid delta zip, preserving your recent shop/container transfer rules and avoiding stubs. J: During a transaction, the Essence cost of doing business should directly transfer between actors. Ariel: Got it — I’m also making the Ess flow actor-to-actor for every transaction path I touch, so buy-backs debit the merchant and credit the seller instead of being synthesized or discarded. I’ve narrowed the implementation point to the C2-55J shop route and transfer functions. The safest behavior is: Shop+Merchant enables sell-back/deposit direction even without Trade; Trade/Purge still behave as before. J: Essence is an integer, halved units should round down. Ariel: Memory updated Understood — half Appraisal buy-back uses integer floor division, so 5 Ess appraises to a 2 Ess buy-back, not 3. J: Actor's with the "Purge" flag, should allow their remaining Essence to transfer directly to the Leader-most Player. Ariel: Memory updated J: abilities.csv should also address the minimum required Player Level to obtain a given item from a shop. Ariel: Memory updated I’m adding the level gate as an ability-stat field rather than a separate hard-coded table, so each abilities.csv item can carry its own shop-level value and the shop panel can enforce it. Done — I produced the C2-56B delta zip. Changes included: Merchant + Shop actors can buy back items from the player. Buy-back payout is floor(Appraisal / 2) Ess. Essence transfers directly actor-to-actor for paid transactions. Purge actors drain remaining Essence directly to the leader-most Player. abilities.csv now supports shop-level: per item, seeded as shop-level:1. Shop conditions expose player level, selected min level, merchant/buyback state, and level requirement status. Preserved CRLF newlines. node --check passed on Dungeon.js. Delta zip tested valid. Download the C2-56B delta zip C2-56C: J: Add a Screen Capture feature to GE Dump's resulting zip file. 1. Destination: zip file under "/Capture/*.png" 2. Format: Alpha PNG 3. Thumb: "thumb.png": Scaled at aspect to 144px height (visible window only) 4. Page: "page.png": Full Size (full page) Ariel: //// J: Do you need the full zip? Ariel: No — the C2-56A full backup is still available here, and I also have the C2-56B delta context. I’ll build this as the next serial delta, C2-56C, against the full backup. J: Make sure the capture pngs have a yyyy-mmdd-hhnn-sszz timestamp. Ariel: Got it — both generated PNG filenames will include the GE-style timestamp, and I’ll keep the stable role names too so the zip can contain timestamped capture files without losing “thumb/page” meaning. I’m resolving the filename conflict by putting the timestamp in the PNG filenames themselves: Capture/thumb-.png and Capture/page-.png. That keeps thumb/page as semantic names while meeting the timestamp requirement. J: should be "Capture/ .png" without the former hyphen. Ariel: Understood: the final paths will be exactly Capture/thumb .png and Capture/page .png, with a space before the timestamp and no hyphen. I found the existing local html2canvas compatibility renderer. I’m patching it too so GE Dump captures start with a transparent alpha base instead of force-filling white. J: The timestamp should be in Phoenix, Arizona timezone. Ariel: Phoenix time it is. I’ll generate the timestamp from the browser’s America/Phoenix timezone rather than trusting the client’s local timezone, then format it as yyyy-mmdd-hhnn-sszz. J: The zip name for the GE Dump should use timestamps in the same manner as screen captures. Ariel: Memory updated I’ll apply that too: GE Dump’s downloaded zip filename will use the same Phoenix timestamp format as the capture PNGs, so the artifact and its captures line up chronologically. I’m switching GE Dump from a synchronous JSON-only zip to an async mixed-content zip. That lets it safely include binary PNGs alongside the existing JSON manifest entries. Thought for 4s J: //// Ariel: Extract the zip I uploaded, Review, Debug, Moment of Clarity, Update and Repack please! Ariel: Thought for 21s Yes — I see it. The GE HUD text is being rendered twice with a small offset/ghost layer, especially on GE Overlay, Party Panel, and Battle Mode. Since the dungeon canvas itself looks normal, this is almost certainly a shared GE HUD/button rendering issue rather than a game renderer issue. Likely cause: the HUD item is keeping both its normal DOM/button text and a GE-managed overlay/active label visible in some states, so the same label paints twice. The fix should be in shared GE HUD code, not Dungeon-specific code. Next delta would be C2-56E - GE HUD Double Text Fix. J: In the actual browser, this does not happen. "target=solo:1,1..3;cluster:1,1" should be valid. Ariel: Memory updated J: How should I do this, I am overthinking again. Ariel: You’re overthinking it because target is trying to describe two different things at once. Split it mentally into: 1. Which target shapes are allowed Example: solo, cluster, all 2. How many item units are consumed per target shape Example: solo may spend up to 3 darts, cluster spends 1 dart per opponent. For Darts, I’d make this the clean canonical form: target=solo:1,1..3;cluster:1,1 Meaning: solo: choose 1 opponent, spend 1..3 darts against that one opponent cluster: choose 1 cluster, spend 1 dart per opponent in that cluster Then allow this shorthand too: target:solo, cluster But treat it only as “these modes are available,” using default consumption rules. The simple implementation rule: target=:,[;:...] So: solo:1,1..3 means one selected opponent, 1 to 3 units applied to that opponent. cluster:1,1 means one selected L/R cluster, 1 unit applied to each opponent in that cluster. For ordinary weapons, keep it simple: target:solo target:cluster target:all or their expanded equivalents: target=solo:1,1 target=cluster:1,1 target=all:1,1 For Darts specifically, use: target=solo:1,1..3;cluster:1,1 That gives you exactly what you want without needing separate “dart mode” code. The battle engine just parses the target rule, resolves affected opponents, then asks the item how many units to consume per affected opponent. J: Go! Existing target filename now shows a comparison preview: Current Edit Image On File Confirm Overwrite button Cancel button Clear Tile fills the image with the chosen Clear Index and blanks the tile name/frame. No obsoletion PS1 needed. Ariel: Done — I produced the C2-56S delta. Changed/new files only: public/alpha/Dungeon/Editor/js/editor.js public/alpha/Dungeon/Editor/css/editor.css README C2-56S - Dungeon Editor Literal Tile Gallery.txt Implemented: CSV tiles from /assets/tiles/*.csv now display as literal processed image previews in the Tile Gallery grid. Each preview shows the Dungeon CSV pixel image above its filename prefix, without .csv. Clicking a gallery preview loads that tile into the editor. Fixed the missing Editor element bindings for the Tile Gallery, Save-As fields, Clear Tile controls, and overwrite confirmation panel. Gallery previews render with nearest-neighbor scaling and preserve transparent cells. No obsoletion PS1 needed. A good workflow is: Type a group name, like Chest, Merchant, Guard, Wolf Spider. Click Create Actor Group. Select the new group header in the Actor Palette. Assign its frames/sprites in the actor frame controls. Set shared actor properties such as name, behavior, flags, blocking, z-index, message, etc. Set Map Tool to Drop Selected Actor Group. Click the map where you want copies of that actor group placed. Click Save Map CSVs. So: Create Actor Group = define reusable actor type/profile Drop Selected Actor Group = place a copy on the map Add Actor Instance = add one placed actor instance near the current/spawn/selected location Remove Actor Group = delete the selected group/profile and its placed copies Remove Selected Actor Group = erase copies of that group from map cells The confusing part is that Create Actor Group does not visibly “do” much on the map. It only creates the reusable profile in the Actor Palette. After that, you use Drop Selected Actor Group to actually stamp it onto the map. For example, to add chests: New Actor group name: Chest Create Actor Group assign Chest sprites/frames set Blocking = 0 set flags/properties as needed Map Tool → Drop Selected Actor Group click map cells where chests belong Save Map CSVs My honest read: the UI should probably rename this to Create Actor Profile or Create Actor Stamp, because “Group” sounds like it should immediately create several actors. J: Create Actor Group fails to add a new Actor Palette entry. Ariel: Thought for 2m 52s Done — I produced the C2-56T delta. Changed/new files only: public/alpha/Dungeon/Editor/js/editor.js README C2-56T - Dungeon Editor Create Actor Group Fix.txt Fixed: Create Actor Group now adds a visible new Actor Palette entry immediately. Fixed the Actor Palette sync crash caused by an undefined extra reference while saving the previously selected Actor group before creating a new one. New draft Actor groups now initialize complete palette data: flags, z-index, blocking, abilities, and extra metadata. Existing Drop Selected Actor Group behavior is preserved. (Should use checkboxes where appropriate, instead of numeric inputs) Ariel: I’ll make this the next serial delta, C2-56U, focusing the Editor property UI: list every available actor property it can load/save, and replace inappropriate numeric fields like Blocking with checkbox controls where the property is boolean. J: There should also be a "Hidden" actor property that hides the given actor and prevent it from visually rendering in the map. Also, you need to add an inventory slot manager per Actor. Blocking is now a single checkbox, not a numeric input plus checkbox. Added Hidden actor property. Hidden actors do not visually render in the Editor map or runtime game map. Hidden only affects rendering; logic/blocking/shop/etc. remains intact. Added additional actor flag checkboxes: Enemy, Shop, Trade, Purge, Merchant, Level Up. Added per-Actor 15-slot inventory manager. Inventory slots sync with the existing Items / Abilities raw CSV field and preserve fractional amounts. Editor/API now preserves the expanded actor flag set instead of dropping unknown available flags. No obsoletion PS1 needed.
